The Verbally Abusive Relationship by Patricia Evans
If you think you understand what abuse looks like, think again. This book was the single most important book I read during the second year of my divorce. I picked it up at a thrift store. It was the best $3 I have ever spent. I have purchased several copies over the past two years and have given it to everyone I know that is struggling down the same path of abuse with no bruises.
See if your local library has a copy to see if it speaks to you, but I was glad I purchased my copy because I underlined and highlighted the hell out of it. I did the same to the copies I gave to friends, just in case they didn't really want to read it. My hope was they would skim through it reading only my highlighted selections and then realize they needed to get a different color highlighter to make the book their own.
